HELP with spacing

Hi

I new at this. I have placed my logo at the top of the page and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to increase the height of that row so there is some empty space between the top and bottom of the logo. I tried by making the logo smaller, but that didn't help.

Also, does anyone know where I can go to get a crash course on php - something that explains it in very simple terms as I am totally stupid in this area.
