Display only selected subcategories!

I believe that without modifying admin section what I'm trying to achieve is almost impossible. Except if there is module or contribution 4 what i'm looking 4.

Simple as this: I want to display links to custom selected products and subcategories in custom panel (infobox). Since i'm relatively new to OSC and i have sort of time limit - i do not have time to go through it all I really need some help.

 

It would be of great help if someone could direct me to correct set of functions to use or explore. I know there are several mods like "featured products" and "wolfen" but that's not what i need! I need to reference just what i want in a simple infobox. I have searched through and through forums, google it etc etc Any ideas ? Anything might be of some help! Thank You all...

when I read through your description, I immediately thought of featured products. You could put that in a column right infobox, not showing pics but only links like the bestseller box.

 

If that is not what you need, describe your problem better and we can tell you if it exists or needs to be custom coded.
