osCommerce shopping basket?

Hi,

This is basically my situation (apologies for length):

I have created a site (that is not live yet) to sell my product, and I initially decided to go with PayPal to deal with transactions and such. I set up my site so that Paypal's "Add to basket" and "view basket" buttons are integrated.

I have since found out that Paypal is extremely limited in functionality (no locked quantity, no dynamic delivery costs based on weight, price, quantity and location based) and has very few seller garauntees, basically making it relitavly easy for persons to exploit transactions and cause my business a loss of stock and money (chargebacks being the main cause).

I have now found an alternative to Paypal, nochex (uk only), but they do not supply shopping basket software for my site.

All I need at the moment is a relitively simply shopping basket page, to replace Paypals, that links to my already created store front and store index. Simple, but in depth enough for me to specify different delivery costs, different locations, and fixed quantities, as I am selling unique, but new items.)

Can osCommerce do this for me? From what I understand of it so far, is that it is software that provides an entire shop site, as opposed to what I need, which is just the shopping basket area and 'checkout' before it gets to nochex.

And are there any pre-built mods for osCommerce which can provide this as I am not savvy with php/asp/cgi editing and the like.

Thanks in advance.

This is an entire shop, you can do what you want but it would take much editing. As far as I know there are no contributions written for this.

Perhaps you might consider another payment gateway solution, someone oscommerce is equipped to deal with (either by default or by contribution)? You've probably considered them all anyway, I suppose, so sorry if it sounds like I'm insulting your intelligence.

If you really need to use nochex, there is the option of hiring someone to do the required programming for you. Whether it is an economically feasible option is for you to decide, but I'm sure there are plenty of osCommerce savvy programmers who would know how to do it.

Good Luck,

Kind Regards,
