For starters you will need to do is upload your files to the new server then set up your configure.php files in the catalog and admin to include your new database name and database username and password then import your db_backbase.txt text from your catalog/admin/backups directory to the new database with a program called phpmyadmin.

I.E., you have to put them in the 'root directory' of that site, NOT in a folder (directory) called Catalog. For example, using www.xxx.co.uk as an example, put your files into the folder called home or htdocs or whatever (depending on the verson of unix or 'god forbid' windows server they're using. Then, when someone logs in, as long as the index page is the ONLY index page available - index.php I believe is the 'main' page for the catalog, make sure there's no other index.html page in the site, and it should pop right into the catalog.

you're very welcome! I hope it wasn't too 'patronizing' but I've learned in my years as a tech support person not to assume anything! <G>

Maybe you can help me! I'm trying to get the store working, and it keeps doing crazy things. I register a name (testing name) and attempt to order something. I login with the name, and about 5% of the time, get 'hi, sarah (the testing name), and about 95% of the time get "hi, guest". once I finally nail down "hi, sarah", I order something, and try to check out. Now here is where I can pretty much replicate the problem. - pretty much, but still, it varies. I attempt to order, and it bounces me to the page that asks about shipping - ok, then I go click on continue, and it bounces me back to either a) the main catalog page or B) the sign on page. Here's my test site: www.swdconsulting.com/catalog Click on Books (categories) and try to order "Comes The End" (the first book) and see what happens. Oh, make an account, first. I don't care if you use "john doe, anywhere usa" as your name and address - you don't have to use your real name - and see what happens when you try to order. There is ONE THING that might be problematic. I'm on their most basic of basic accounts, although they told me they DO have ssl for me and that might be the problem. I'm going to setup the catalog on the site I'm putting it on, which IS a 'higher' level than my site, and see what happens. Thanks!
