ryan1298 Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I am brand new to this great project and actually just got it installed tonight. However, I am wondering how to add a password to the ADMN area. For example when you go to http://www.mywebsite.net/catalog/admin/ how do I get it to require a password insted of just going right to the ADMIN area. Thanks in advance and you guys and gals have a great thing going keep it up, thumbsup.gif -Ryan

Sorry about that - Here are two sites. Let us all know how it works out: http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/htaccess-generator.shtml? http://hoohoo.ncsa.uiuc.edu/docs/tutorials/user.html Please read them both. ♥Vger Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Previously said - many times - try using the Password Protection or Directory Protect feature in your web hosting control panel. If you don't have this feature - then it's time to start writing .htaccess and .htpasswd files. Vger
sitehatchery.com Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 I figured it out. Actually, you just need to go to where your files are stored on your web server. There should be an option with your host to password protect a file or directory. You just select the file and choose to protect it. Try using this site and see if you get it to work and tell us what you did. A lot of us are having that same issue.
korfx04@s Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 A Great mind once told me...... Just rename the admin folder to something that only you will remember like GB04BJ316
