Index.php main page confusion

Hello

I have just got access to OScommerce and am impressed by its features but very confused as I have never used PHP before.

Could someone please please please tell me how I could edit the main index page (the first front page that shows up when entering a site) and replace the demo text with mine?

And where I find this page?

And can this be edited thru the admin section or do I have to use a php editor if there is such a one?

Also can any recommend a PHP editor that displays the live web page at the same time in another screen as I type in the PHP script (not that I know what it is).

Please feel free (if this is allowed on this forum) to email the answers to me at [email protected].

Lastly if anyone knows of a good photography dummy site I can adjust for my own use please let me know where I can find it and use it.

Many thanks

Very confused

The file that needs editing is includes/languages/english/index.php, and yes you do need to download it and edit it. Read the Parse Error link below my name for more info. Text Pad and Crimson Editor are both good plain text editors.

To view the site dynamically you need to install a local web server on your computer, and install osCommerce on that local server. You can then test things offline and upoad when you're sure it works. This is the address to an all-in-one package you can use:
