banner area - top of page

Could someone please tell me smart way to have a banner along the whole of the top of page - I was going to make a banner graphic to cover the whole length but realise that I want to replace the 3 icons top right as well and not sure how to achieve both?

The banner is part of the layout in /includes/header.php

 

If you use a set width banner, ie 800px and you want it always to fill the top then you will also need to make the site a constant 800px.

 

The 3 icons can be removed from the header.php.

Thank you - a further question on this if I can ...

 

If I make a banner to fill the length of the header area - can I add 3 icons as part of the graphic I use for this and assign the same functionality that the default icons provide?

 

I would plan to make the graphic in Macromedia Fireworks and assign the behaviour to each of the three graphics.

 

It's the only way I can see possible to do it.

 

Also I have opened up the header.php but not sure what lines of code I should delete to remove the 3 icons

My Account > Cart Contents > and Checkout??
