The store has 10,400 products. osCommerce times out consistantly. Easy Populate won't work either because I can't get a file to download, it just times out as well. Shared server farm system: Netfirms.com Any advice??! CP

Guest Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 definitely not osCommerce nor is it a fault of easypopulate it is a shared server, need a dedicated or a server which is not overloaded, unless u get the right people u will never know if shared is not overloaded

What files should I modify in osCommerce? OR is it strictly in the php.ini file and/or Apache config (which I have no controle over) :blush:
Guest Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 you can have an infinite number of products with osc actually and the system can fly much like when you have 100 products. But with your current shop before getting into major mods, you could improve the perfomance by switching off categories counters, enable the cache and optimize the sql queries. Also make sure its not some external urls (to images or other objects) that slow down page loading.
