Giftbox Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I need some help. I found the template area of contributions. But how do I install them. One says "How to use....Just drop over a defaut oscommerce shop.....and you are finished..." Where is the default oscommerce shop located? And will this delete all the products I have put into my catalog?
♥Vger Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 The 'default osCommerce shop' is the one you have installed. It is important that if you just copy the new or altered files from a contribution that you have not already modified those files for other contributions you have installed - and that's why they mention 'default osCommerce shop'. I'd recommend the Basic Template System. I'm not a fan of the Simple Template System. Your products are in your database, so it shouldn't affect them at all - but it won't harm to take a backup of your database via the Tools -->Backup link in your osCommerce admin panel. It's good to keep up-to-date backups anyway. Vger

I clicked and draged it contents into the root file where I found the other "catalog" file and I did not notice any changes. I was also still geting that basic "This is a default setup of the osCommerce project, products shown are for demonstrational purposes, any products purchased will not be delivered nor will the customer be billed. Any information seen on these products is to be treated as fictional." text on the index page that I got when I first installed it. How can I get rid of this? I found that index page and when i changed the text within the ('TEXT_MAIN', ''); area and i upload that to replace the current index page all I got was that code and no page. What am i doing wrong? I thought this would be an easy cart to use.
♥Vger Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 What will this pack do? 1. It will center your shop and give you the possibilety to set outside background color in the stylesheet. 2. It will remove the default oscommerce cartoonish icons 3. It removes the rounded infobox corners and replaces them with square transparent ones, so you can change the colors in the styleaheet. 4. It removes the osCommerce banner in the footer 5. It will make it easy to have 1 top graphic logo filling the whole header width. That's all this contribution does. It's not a template system. Vger
Giftbox Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 I found a acutal template package and I stalled it. But I also replaced my index.php page I had edited with the origanal index page and now i'm getting this error Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tep_image() in /home2/yourgif/public_html/giftshop/index.php on line 13 can you tell me how to fix this?

TheVoice Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Ok I found and installed the BTSv1.5d and the updated BTSv1.5e-update. I'm lost at the part about the BTS.sql file. How do I insert this file into my osc database via phpAdmin? Also when I now goto my store I get: Illegal template directory! "The Voice"
♥Vger Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 You need to access your database via phpMyAdmin - there's probably a link to it in your web hosting control panel. Once there click on the SQL tab and use the Browse function to locate the .sql file on your computer and click the 'Go' button. Vger
Guest Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 I'd recommend the Basic Template System. I'm not a fan of the Simple Template System. Vger - can you be more specific about these two systems? I'm very familiar with STS but have no experience with BTW and am interested to know how they compare. Thanks!
