Money order Payment module that comes with wont set payment status

Hi, I am using an older version of oscommerce and the money order payment module always sets the order status to pending when someone uses a money order or check as the payment method, even though I have it set in the admin "set order status" to a money order field (old paypal order status) which in the database is "99999". Is this the problem, or is it my payment module? Please help.

I am not sure what version you are referring to and so you have lost me with your description.

 

I did not know you would automatically control the default payment status based on the payment method.
