Installed in category directory - dont want to use redirect.

I originally setup my website www.domainname.com/catalog

 

Then I used a redirect to open the catalog directory after it loads www.domainname.com

 

It works great, but after trying to submit to several directories and for search engine rankings, it says that you must not use redirects.

 

What should I do, I have had the website for a year so dont want to move all the files up and risk losing my place in search engines.

 

What you do? Is there anyway to pull the index file into the main directory and leave everything else in catalog directory. I have sts templates installed as well as many of the favorite mods.

You could make an intro page instead of the redirection. And of course it will have a link to your catalog.
