JonathanH Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I'm using powweb to host my site. I registered lab-suppliesonline.com with powweb and have my osc working fine. So now I'm ready to turn on the site with my main domain name which is superior-scientific.com. I've created a serviced domain (superior-scientific.com) on my lab-suppliesonline.com domain. I've changed my nameservers at the registrar (godaddy) for superior-scientific.com to point to powweb (ns3.powweb.com, ns2.powweb.com). DNS propogation is happening as I write this. I'd like those that visit my site with superior-scientific.com to keep that url throughout their visit and those that visit with lab-suppliesonline.com to keep that one. How do I setup the configure.php files? Do I specify both domains somehow? (for cookies, server, etc) Is there a contrib for this? Also, I'd like the osc generated emails to show the superior-scientific info in the internet headers. If I had to favor one domain name it would be superior-scientific.com because all of our non-internet marketing is geared toward that. Do I have to change the main domain to be superior-scientific.com and the serviced domain to be lab-suppliesonline.com? Is powweb able to do this? Thanks for all the help. Just learning OSC, but loving it so far.
dahui Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 I'd like those that visit my site with superior-scientific.com to keep that url throughout their visit and those that visit with lab-suppliesonline.com to keep that one. comcerning this,to my knowledge it is not possible with the shop in one directory only. you could setup one domain to be master and redirect the others by .htasccess ather idea would be to set up to identical shops, maybe change logos or s.th. like that and let them both have their own domain and webroot. if you than could point both to the same db and might be halfway the road. not tested no guarantee, and might also be causing problems having 2 admins? just 2cents on an early tue morning here in a rainy bavaria. dahui
missa88 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I have a similar situation... kinda I have a store at like mystore.com But I need to change my store name and domain name to somethingelse.com Would it be better for the existing 2,000 customers to duplicate the store on a new hosting plan and the new domain name, then switch over... or to leave the store hosted where it is and do a domain name change? What will happen for customers? Will they be able to access all their old info at the new domain name? I'm not even sure if i'm asking the right questions... seem to be having a brain fart
