markyboy Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 I have installed OScommerce files to server. I know the permissions for folders should be 755 what should all the loose files in folders be set to? They are currently set to 644 on my local hard drive but on server they are set to 0. regards markyboy
♥Vger Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 All files should be set to 644, except for the two configure.php files which, during the install, should be set to 755 or 777, and after the install reset to 644 or 444 or 400. It's not possible to be more specific about this last thing because it depends on the server setup. If the file permissions are showing as zero you may find you have problems with ownership of those files, in which case you may not be able to reset the permissions at all. Vger
markyboy Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 Many thanks for that I will try the 644 permissions You have been most helpful The next thing I have got to try is to get this damn thing to install after keying in http://www.my-domain.com/install as in your Quick Fix regards markyboy
♥Vger Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Don't forget to set up a blank database first. Vger
markyboy Posted September 27, 2005 Author Posted September 27, 2005 there is a blank database on my domains server is there a quicker way of setting permissions to folders and sub folders or do you have to click on each folder individually which I have been doing. I know there is a way of setting permissions to a folder and all files within the folder globally. many thanks again markyboy
