Mr Evans Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Over the last four days I have tried using the forums to complete the installation but I am now going backwards. I think its now time to ask for help. I am tring to install it on my computer. I saw a previous post that suggested the xampp package. So I downloaded this and Apache is running fine. I downloaded the osCommerce zip file, extraced, copied and pasted the catalog file outside the osCommerce folder. I have tried putting this folder on various areas on my computer. I tried using Fillzilla but I couldn't understand how to get it to work. So I am now using CuteFTP, I am not sure what to assign for 'remote'. At the moment I am just entering in 'localhost'. When I try to connect I get the following error: STATUS:> Getting listing "http://localhost"... STATUS:> Resolving host name localhost... STATUS:> Host name localhost resolved: ip = 127.0.0.1. STATUS:> Connecting to FTP server localhost:21 (ip = 127.0.0.1)... ERROR:> The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it. If it helps, I can open the files in PHP Designer 2005 and I can see the install page. I am guessing that my problem is FTP'in it to the Apache server. I have looked at the Installtion guide in the knowledge base and the reference guide that another member installed in this forum but no luck. Can anyone help? .........and yes, I know I'm a dumb ass.
♥Vger Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Okay, if this is a local install then you don't need to FTP files anywhere. You simply take the 'catalog' folder and drop it into xampp/htdocs. You go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin and create a blank database. Then you go to http://localhost/catalog/install and begin the install procedure. Vger
