StephaneZ Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 This must be the most asked question on the forum, so if it get's ignored, to bad so sad I guess. I've checked the Showcases and specifically the Live Shops, but unfortunately the shops are not categorized by industry. I would like to know if anyone in my industry (Software Sales) is using osCommerce. We currently have an online process but we are looking at what alternatives may be available. This being said, I wish selling software was as easy as selling toys online. Unfortunately the process is much more complicated then a one off sale. Like most software development companies we sell our software at reduced rates for educational and non-profit organizations, and we also sell our software by seat. How would this approach be integrated into osCommerce. Some products also require licensing information be supplied. Ex: Minimum Price is 500$ 1 License of Software X is 3.00$ 1 License of Software X with Updates is 3.30$ so for a Corporate account requiring 3000 licences: 3000 Licences of Software X is 3,000.00$ 3000 Licences of Software X with Updates is 3,900.00$ (30% support cost) If you are an K-12 School requiring 3000 licences you get a 80% discount: 3000 License of Software X is 1,800.00$ (1 @ 0.60$) 3000 License of Software X with Updates is 2,340.00$ (30% support cost) Any feedback is welcomed. If you know of an osCommerce implementation that follows some of these requirements please let me know, I would be very interested. Thank you. St?phane
chrisw184 Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Hi Stephane You can add options and attributes to individual products. e.g. the customer can choose software x at so $x amount and then have an available options dropdown which allows for additional things like support @ $x amount extra or an option could be School discount -$x amount. So the answer is yes, oscommerce would be suitable as this feature enables what you need. Hope this helps Chris
Jan Zonjee Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 You can add options and attributes to individual products. e.g. the customer can choose software x at so $x amount and then have an available options dropdown which allows for additional things like support @ $x amount extra or an option could be School discount -$x amount. For the support indeed the options/attributes sound like a good idea. However, for the rest it sounds like the scenario for Separate Pricing Per Customer since you are dealing with different prices for different customer groups and if you need discounts by volume too, you can add Quantity Price Breaks for SPPC.
