Guest Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 I'm not sure if my description cuts the cake, but, here is my situation. I'm setting this up for someone and for different products there are different shipping rates, i.e., the site deals with collectable items such as coins, stamps, zippo lighters and such. The rate for shipping a zippo lighter would be $5.00 in the U.S. and $6.00 outside and stamps would be $1.00 in the U.S. and $2.00 outside the U.S. How would I go about setting up the shipping charges for the different situations? I know the answer is probably something easy but I'm not one to always catch these things though once I know it I'm usually good to go. Thanx much for any help what-so-ever and have a beautiful day, Dave :sweating:

Set the weight of each item relative to its shipping cost. You may see people qoute that the shipping in osc is in KG. thats not true. The shipping is in whatever you want it to be, provided the weights/costs are in the correct ratio. make the lightest thing a weight of 5 - this would be the cheapest to ship, in zone 1 it may be 1$, in zone 2 it might be 2$'s, make the next shipping band weight 10, this would be the next heavyest items, and in zone 1 it may be 5$, in zone 2 10$ etc... those are examples, work out your weight scheme based on what you are shipping, and consider multiple purchases, the module will sum the weight, so 2 x 5 = 10, is the next price band at 10 or 11? if its 11 you could get 2 items at weigght 5 for the same shipping rate as 1 item, but if it was 3 items at weight 5 it would go to the next shipping band (11?0 in this example...
