Cant add or modify any of my categories in Admin

I recently have installed the header tag controller contrib and have other contributions installed on my system too. If i want to change the name of an existing category or indeed want to add a new one i can go into the relevant admin page but upon clicking update it throws up this code:

1054 - Unknown column 'sort_order' in 'field list'

update categories_description set sort_order = '1', last_modified = now() where categories_id = '21' and language_id = '1'

[TEP STOP]

This is on the page ending with this extension:

catalog/admin/categories.php?action=update_category&cPath=

Can anyone explain why this might be happening?

Categories_Description has these fields: categories_id, language_id, categories_name, categories_htc_title_tag, categories_htc_desc_tag, categories_htc_keywords_tag, categories_htc_description

While Categories have these fields: categories_id, categories_image, parent_id, sort_order, date_added, last_modified

Happy to post any php files which may need addressing. But this problem persists no matter what i do - but i did used to be able to add categories and edit them until i put on the contribution. The contribution however does work in every other aspect so i swear i've installed it correctly.

I was wondering if this is a known bug - and if it was addressed in a more recent update to the header tag controller contribution.

This is a problem in your database - one of your contributions requires a 'sort_order' column to be present in your categories_description table - look for a *.sql file (or instructions) in the contribution package :D

None of the .sql files in the Header Tag contribution package provides directions for adding a sort_order column to the categories_description folder.

I dont think it needs one?

Could it be an error in the code provided by the contrib. or an oversight in the .sql file?

This is what i get attempting to ADD a new category:

1062 - Duplicate entry '0-1' for key 1

insert into categories_description (categories_name, categories_htc_title_tag, categories_htc_desc_tag, categories_htc_keywords_tag, categories_htc_description) values ('Test', 'Test', 'Testing', 'Testing', 'Testing')

And the other error message I posted in the first post of the thread is what i get when attempting to EDIT an existing category.

Adding products and amending them works without issue. Just not categories. Any thoughts anyone?

It could be a problem with the query (wrong table definition), or perhaps the definition of the table name (most likely your categories table) in admin/includes/database_tables.php

Checked database_tables and the correct tables are defined (the two category tables). So i'm assuming its a query error in the code i posted - but i'm sure i followed the code, from the user instructions provided, to the letter.

Can anyone go over their categories file (obviously back up, then go back to old one) with this one posted to test the error - or just take a quick look through my code posted. Or perhaps think of other areas where it may be going wrong?

Like i said earlier adding/editing at product level is fine, and the catalog works fine for the store visitors looking at the products/categories in their browser. But the user in admin just cant do anything to their categories anymore.
