chriscknapp Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I will not attempt to alter the basic OSc look to much, I will just mess it up. I think the OSc look is pretty clean for the most part. Shipping and Returns Policy is not in place yet. I copied the other 'Policies' form other OSc stores :-" ...is that allowed? You can create accounts and submit test orders if you want. Please offer suggestions, comments, criticisms etc... I'm doing this for a family member and am wondering if you think it is ready to give to her. Things I should add? Things I forgot? I really appreciate it! Thank you! Chris My Webpage
♥peterpil19 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Nice clean design! Header seems a little too large in my opinion for an 800 * 600 resolution, but nice logo nonetheless. Which contribution did you use for the categories box to get the whole box to highlight when you move the cursor over it? I think it's a good effect! I'd like to use it myself. --Peter CE PHOENIX SUPPORTER Support the Project, go PRO and get access to certified add ons Full-time I am a C-suite executive of a large retail company in Australia. Chance Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 While most people will complain that its a bit stock, this is what a "stock" site should be. Anyone who says "I don't know PHP" can achieve these results with a little dedication and work, and I applaud your efforts to make a stock osC store your own. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Hard and Cynical: How to Make a Horrible osCommerce Site Warm and Fuzzy: How to Make an Awesome osCommerce Site

The contrib I used for the categories was "Main categories in front page 2.3", originally by Diego Discacciati. Thanks again for taking the time to comment! I'm looking forward to more comments from others as well!
Tomcat Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 You might want to vertical align images in product_listing_col, see:This page Buttons are not that great, but that's my taste... Cheers Outside links in signatures are not allowed!

Cheers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Excellent! I actually dropped the sub-categories and gave both subs their own category. Looks better now. Thank you!
Joe7 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Excellent. I like the little extras you have added. Color scheme is nice and calm. I'd get rid of the 'Reviews' feature. Maybe add the 'purchase without creating an account' option. In the UK Carhatt is more of a brand for fashion consious teenagers!
Guest Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Good job. Agree colors are calming. Ditto on previous comments (purchase without account, review box, etc.) --I'd place your address & phone number somewhere (footer maybe). --When I click on "top" I get taken to a page with your logo that I can't get out of. Is this what you want? --Check Knowledge Base or search forum for way to get rid of countries you don't ship to in your drop down menu (I'd tell you how to do it but I don't remember offhand). Best of luck to you.
parsnipsius Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Wow this "stock" site looks alot better than majority of the "fully customized" in my opinion. Really nice clear colours, excellent use of the various contributions. Only thing I'm not sure about is the size of the logo, it's rather large.. still it looks good so you could probably get away with this. Good job!!
chriscknapp Posted September 25, 2005 Author Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks for all of the kind words and thank you for taking the time to look. I will be making changes suggested. I appreciate your input.
Flyer5 Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Looks great. You missed some buttons - the edit, view and delete buttons (the small ones) I would add your address to the contact page (VGER made a contribution for this I believe) I like it, im sure you will do well with it. Regards F5
josh1r Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I really like your site as well, and have a quick question if you don't mind, how do you get your products into a table format as can be see here: http://carrisacountrystore.com/store/catal...ex.php?cPath=33, vs. the regular vertical list of products? I assume it's a contribution but I was unable to find it. Thank you very much!

This should be the contrib I used for the product listings- -Product Listing Column Format It is a nice and very easy contrib. Let me know if you don't find it, I still have the files. EDIT- Here it is- http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...112/category,3/
