cscomputers Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 OK I'm going to ask a stupid question, please don't give me a stupid answer. The type of code or software that OSCommerce uses is PHP correct? or is it SQL No that's for servers right, SQL? Anyway what I would like to know is if there is a GUI program for setting up and configuring my OSCommerce Website? Or a WYSIWYG that will work with OSCommerce so that I can do it like I do HTLM with Front Page. One last thing where do I go in the admin to setup the Passorwd and how do I install it? Thanks Jim O
♥Vger Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 PHP is a scripting language that adds a dynamic capability to html. MySQL is a system that allows you to run structured queries of data in database tables, hence SQL (Structured Query Language). phpMyAdmin is a GUI interface that lets you manage MySQL databases. To password protect your 'admin' folder go to your web hosting control panel (not the osCommerce one) and look for the Password or Directory Protection feature. You mentioned FrontPage - Satan will get you for sure!!!! :D To work with osCommerce offline, turn your computer into a local web server (Intranet), by installing an all-in-one package like XAMPP (http://www.apachefriends.org/en) Vger
