Joe7 Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Hi, In theory the affiliate module could bring in a lot of sales. You find websites/blogs/forums with interests relating to your product. Tell them that if a customer comes through them they get 10% of the sale. Once they reach ?10 the money is transferred to there PayPal account. They could even link to a specific product rather than the whole website, or they could use 'oscommerce anywhere' and automatically list your sites top sellers. I'm just wondering if the whole process is as simple as this. Would the admin area create a list of referrals and how much money they are owed? Would the people advertising your products be able to login and check how much money they have made so far? Would the sending of the ?10, for example, be a simple 1-click process or would you have to do it manually? Could you easily change the refferral percentage? I think if it is simple then *everybody* who can afford at least 10% off a sale should use this. You are basically cutting out advertising costs, plus adding customers who may use word of mouth to attract more. Not forgetting incoming links that will increase your Google PageRank. Does anyone have any experience/advice/tips/problems with this module?
Mediajuggle Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 have you checked this thread.....http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=143597 My Contribution Music Download Store Template http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4275
Joe7 Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 That is what inspired my thread. That thread discusses whether to use the affiliate feature at all. I'm wondering if the actual setup of the feature (solely the OSC-Affiliate contribution) is easy to use for both the shop owner and the people referring customers.

Joe7 Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Cheers :sweating: I guess I should actually install this and find out for myself :)
radders Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 If you accept Paypal you may have to do extra work to integrate it.
Joe7 Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 What does it usually work with then? I thought PayPal would have been the most simple option of payment.
