creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I cannot find the "catalog area" that is described in the newer documentation, either in the newest downloads or the contributions. I want to change some of the box structures, specifically I want to put something other than New Products as the middle of the opening page THanx
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 the "catalog area" is the catalog/ directory where you installed your osc (catalog/ is the default)
creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 the "catalog area" is the catalog/ directory where you installed your osc (catalog/ is the default) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In the Documentation there are references to The "Catalog Area" in the Admin area. Sub-headings are Boxes , Design and Layout and emails sent. I am trying to find the contributions or latest code to do such....add the ability to modify these settings in the admin area
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 the admin area is a sub-directory of the catalog area. The admin control panel manipulates some elements of boxes like adding products, categories and some layout parameters. There are lots of contributions that enhance the admin area in different ways. Take a look here: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions
creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Thanks for the pointer. I have been pouring over the contributions looking for these specifically. I have not been able to find anything yet. THe ones I am looking for are outlined in the latest documentation.
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I thought your question was generic. So what exactly the module your looking for you want it to do? (To replace new products on the home page there are contributions btw)
creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Actually , I want to replace the center box, ( New for September...or whatever month) with a different box. I am not sure what I want to replace it with yet. I checked out your site and see that you have text...that is very nice. Did you create a whole new box or just modify the one that sits in that place holder?
creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I will look through the contributions some more.....
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Oh I have the new products box at the end but have quite few paragraphs on the home page. To add different text to your home page go to catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php file In there you will see the default osc text under the define('TEXT_MAIN', 'osc html text'); so you could modify it to customize your shop. Now if you wanted say to show categories in the home page take a look in these contributions: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2125 http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,651 there are many more to customize your shop. Just before installing backup your files and database.
creeksiide Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Thanks, That is some very helfpul information. I will look into the contributions. I do know where the text should go , Now that you mention it

Would you know of an easier way to bulk delete products? Thanks,
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 There was a multiple products manager but I think the delete didnt work well. There might be other contributions and then its the easypopulate one you could manage your products fast since it doesn't use the admin cpanel.
