jackat Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Having now installed osC through my host provider, and being completely new to all this, I have begun to wonder "where are my osC pages?" 1st question: I was told: "Go to http://www.*yourdomainnamehere*.com/catalog/ - this is where you will see your new home page" but when I've gone to this URL I find nothing (in my case it would be www.eurohouseandhome.com/catalog/). 2nd question: my idea is to use links from the pages I built (my "info pages") to my osC pages (my "product pages") instead of having all my pages generated by osC. Is this the way to go? Are there any problems with this method?

mickotoole Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 /home/eurohouseandhome/www/catalog/ is the server directory that osCommerce should be installed to. A lot of people make the mistake of uploading the osCommerce directory and files to the root directory, this directory is not accessable by normal http requests therefore you should make sure that you instal the folders and files into the www directory.
jackat Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Just want to say thanks to everyone - I appreciate your help.
jackat Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I've finally just realized what I did - when I downloaded osC I called the folder osCommerce, so I finally found my missing pages at www.eurohouseandhome.com/osCommerce. Now my question becomes: when I set up a link on my site (i.e. a button to product catalog) I can just direct the link to this URL and it will go directly to my product pages, right? Just to be sure I avoid more grave mistakes... Thanks in advance..
