chriscknapp Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 My product images are all of different sizes. Anyone have a tip or contrib or anything on how I can make the listing look more uniform? The thumbnails are either squished and distorted or the columns are all messed up. Is it just a matter of re-doing all of my images? Thanks for any ideas!!! It is much appreciated... Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 try the gd thumbnail contribution at least will get read of the distortion and you could have a good aspect ratio. For the exact dimensions of the thumbnails there could be other contributions or you could blend the images with the thumbnail background.
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 i use the gd contribution, while 99.9% of my thumbnails are still a bit grainy, it shortens my overall page loading greatly - which is far more important than the quality of the thumbnails

I would expect your real image (the one that appears when you click enlarge) to be the full size image and much larger than the thumbnail of course. So the grains you should see them if the original image was smaller than the thumbnail. Can you check a product on my site? tell me if you see the same. (and they are better in jpg format than gif)
chriscknapp Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 Thanks for the replies! I have added the thumbnail contrib...it has effectively lowered my file sizes but I am still stuck with differing sized thumbs. I'll keep looking...and probable just start editing images.
chriscknapp Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 FYI- Anyone else wanting an easy solution to a similar problem... I used the Product listing Column Format Contribution to list my products in several columns instead of just one. Then I just changed the image align within the table of that contrib to bottom instead of top. At least now the images/text/buy now button all line up in straight lines.

Guest Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 they don't look grainy on your site at all! how did you do that? didnt do anything. I installed it and used jpg images that are larger than the thumbnails. You can check with your admin panel what PHP version you're with. Maybe thats the difference.
Guest Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 oh i use mostly gifs, that could be the reason
