Hi

Ive just started to try and install oscommerce on my webserver and it gives the following error message:

FATAL ERROR: register_globals is disabled in php.ini

I had this error when i installed oscommerce locally but was able to overcome it by changing the php.ini file.

How can i change this file on my webserver? Do I have to contact my hosting provider or am i doing something wrong?

Many Thanks

Ok, I thought i cracked it, I created a page to display the php information of my server on the web: Which you can view below

phonections.co.uk/phpin.php

I thought all I would need to is find where the php.ini file is stored and change register_globals to enabled.

But the location of the php.ini file is c:windows\php.ini, How Can this be!! Surely the php.ini file cant be on my local machine

Can someone shed some light on this?

Ive got th same problem, although I am on a dedicated machine, I tried to change the PHP.INI file, but still the same error.

I saw somwhere you can disabel the globals on the server and enable it locally so osCommerce can run.

Anyone know how to do this?

You appear to be hosted with Fasthosts, on one of their Windows servers with Register Globals disabled.

If I'm correct then you won't be able to buy a full ssl cert and the shared ssl setup doesn't work with osCommerce, so don't pay for it.

You can get around the problem of Register Globals set to 'off' in php.ini by installing the Register Globals Patch Files (link below my name).
