datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Hi guys, I need a shipping module exactly like this www.clubflyers.com I sell the same products, basiclly i'm selling printing. So the quantitys is a product option. At checkout, the script will check the zip code for the delivery address, check the quantity purchased, and then calculate the total shipping charges. Possible? Thanks Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 This isn't what a shipping module does? I know that FedEx Real Time quotes works this way. There are other shipping modules for UPS, USPS, etc. This is how they should operate. Quote Do, or do not. There is no try. Order Editor 5.0.6 "Ultra Violet" is now available! datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Ok so how do you specify a product option to alter the shipping charge? Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I don't understand the question. Quote Do, or do not. There is no try. Order Editor 5.0.6 "Ultra Violet" is now available! For support or to post comments, suggestions, etc, please visit the Order Editor support thread.
datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 If you go to clubflyers.com you will understand how the shipping works. I'll use an example. I have a product of business cards, they sell in quantitys of 5000, 10,000, and 15,000 5,000 business cards comes in one box, 10,000 business cards comes in two boxes and 15,000 business cards comes in three boxes. SO. I when the cunsumer goes to buy business cards, one of the product options will be the quantitys, when they up the quantity to say 15,000 the shipping module would change the weight and calculations accordingly. I would need to disable to the quantity option that is presented after the purchase and have that option in the product information part not on the check out part. And it can't be quantitys of 1,2,3 it would have to be 5000, 10000, and 15,000. Does that make sense? If not just go to clubflyers.com and see how it works. Thanks Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Well, it seems to me that using quantities of 1, 2, 3, etc, would work fine, as long as it is understood that 1 means 5,000 cards, 2 means 10,000, etc. Unless you're saying that you will have three different products, each with a maximum quantity of 1? What if someone wants 30,000 cards? They can't order two boxes of 15,000? What if they want 20,000? It sounds to me like you would have three products: 5,000 cards, 10,000 cards, and 15,000 cards. Each would have it's own weight and price (I'm assuming it's cheaper by the card to buy 15,000). If someone wants 5,000 cards, they order 1 unit of 5,000. If they want 45,000, they order 3 units of 15,000. If they want 100,000, they order 6 units of 15,000 and 1 unit of 10,000. No? Quote Do, or do not. There is no try. datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 (edited) Yeah that makes sense I guess, so how can I change the quantitys to 5000 instead of 1? and 10,000 instead of 2 and so on? Edited September 20, 2005 by datoshway Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Wait- now I see. Can't you do this with product attributes? Quote Do, or do not. There is no try. datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Wait- now I see. Can't you do this with product attributes? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know, can the product attributes alter the shipping rate? And Can I disable the quantity option after checkout and have it as 5,000, 10,000 and so on in the actual product information just as a product attribute? Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 You mean if they order 10,000 they can't order two units of 10,000, just 10,000? Hmmmmm..... It's possible. But how.... There must be a mod out there for adding additional weight for attributes. But to disable quantity? You really don't want them to order 45,000? Quote Do, or do not. There is no try. datoshway Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Well no it would go up to whatevery they want to order. 100,000 if possible. I just need it to be in intervals of 5000 Quote
djmonkey1 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Looking more at that website, I would say yes absolutely to all of your questions, because they did it. That's the most heavily modified oscommerce cart I've ever seen, but it's almost definitely an oscommerce cart. Thanks for that link by the way, it gave me a lot of good ideas... Quote Do, or do not.
