Guest Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I need some recommendations on some osC settings: 1) Where might I find some generic policy statements to fill in the following? Shipping and Returns Privacy Notice Conditions of Use 2) Search Engine Safe (Still in development): Should I enable this function? 3) Use Cache: I had mine set to Use Cache and have a folder for it. I have never seen it used. Should I keep this enabled or disable this? 4) Verify email addresses thru DNS? 5) Sessions: Prevent spiders from creating. I think I saw a spider browsing my site earlier today. I logged in to the admin page and looked up "Who's online". It showed two users online, myself and someone from another domain. I looked up the entry in my log and see that it is the MSN search engine. I do want search engines to point users to my site so I don't want to discourage them. Do I want to prevent them from creating sessions? 6) Color Schemes: would anyone like to suggest a good color combination for my site? Thank you Buck My Webpage
♥Vger Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 1 = Shop around. 2 = No you should not enable it 3 = Don't use cache on a shared server 4 = No, don't use 5 = You most certainly want to prevent them from creating sessions, otherwise people clicking links on their pages will all end up with the same session id on your site (and in each others Shopping Carts) 6 = Check out the Basic Template System. It also installs Dynamic Meta Tags at the same time. This is only suitable for new installs when you haven't added any Contributions. Vger

I have been considering removing the install I have and reinstalling it again. If I do, I will look up the Basic Template System and install it as well. Are there any other Contributions you suggest I install when I do this? I know I'll have to install the SMPT contribution to use pop email server. Thank you, Buck
