nlacayo13
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue. I have a customer that uses OSCOMMERCE to sell its products online as well as call center employees to input orders. They would like to have a way of seeing which orders came from which call center. How can I add an additional field into the order process that a call center rep can input the call center ID. I can later create a page that will query the databse by call center ID, but am not sure how to manipulate OSC. Any help is appreciated.
Guest
Oh,yes, that would be nice! I've been requesting extra fields at checkout ofr a long time. I don't think it would be hard to do. It is just a little bit beyond me. Just one dropdown menu populated by admin side would make a huge difference to me and would fill your needs as well. I've had no response on this (well nothing really) so I assumed it isn't important enough to anyone else and I'll just have to figure out how on my own. Maybe your interest will generate some response. I'd really love this! There's a Contrib that may work for you: Extra Address Line The problem is you'd need to move it and your people would have to input the exact same info for you to be able to query it accurately. A dropdown would be much better.
Beer Monster
The "how did you hear about us" contribution has the functionality you need so it would be a simple matter to install it and change the field names. Light, in the absence of eyes, illuminates nothing.
Guest
I think that goes into the customer's info and isn't tied to the order. I need mine to be tied to the orders. That said, it would still make a great starting point for a modification of a checkout page. Thanks for the suggestion!

That said, it would still make a great starting point for a modification of a checkout page. Thanks for the suggestion! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I need something like this also. I have a client who doesn't allow a customer to create an account, so everything goes through the Purchase Without Account (PWA) contribution. We need to add a field so that the work phone is required. Until the client insisted on PWA it was easy to modify the customers_fax field for this purpose. However the customers_fax field is in the CUSTOMERS table, which is not updated when using PWA. Accordingly, I need help in adding a required work_phone field that is inserted into the ORDERS table. Any help would be appreciated. cdickson
Guest
Hey, folks I just wanted to let you know that there's a great Cotribution that is in steady improvement (but useful now) for a faster checkout. In fact, it's called Fast Easy Checkout. I'm mentioning it in this thread because the developer is now working on coding extra fields into the checkout process! I have an early version but it looks like it will work out fine. It is based on How Did You hear About Us, but he's also working on making multiple fields configured by admin. This guy has been doing some great work! The Contrib is worth it even if you don't want the extra field at checkout. It's a much quicker and more logical process. here's the support thread: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=167064
