Hi there guys!

Something a bit different.

I have a live store that has been running for alost 2 years. We recently got our own SSL certificate and felt the site needed a bit of a makeover as there are tons of stock Oscommerce stores opening up.

Click Here for the original website

Click here for the new website

Now the question is. Which do you think is better? Any problems you can see? Please note though that both sites are live so please dont place orders :)

Any chance someone could also confirm that the SSL is working as expected?

Any suggestions/comments/feedback. Would you buy from the store? Colour combination suggestions?

Thanks good - looking forward to it!

Hmmm...not much feedback.

How about this. I see some of you feel the original is better. Then would you agree with keeping the "new" site as is but with blue boxes similar to the purple boxes on the old site? I also feed the font needs to be made bigger on the product info pages.

Dunno, what you think?

NGR,

Your orig was better, because it looks cleaner. The boxes in your new store come across very cluttered.

Another point is that your images on the specials, some have the black box with rounded corners and some don't, I think you should unify a little, and I would suggest putting it on all images.

I don't see the point of the voting box. Adds nothing to the customers experience.

Also your buttons don't seem to flow around the shop. IMO it looks better to keep styles constant throughout a site.

It might be me, but when I click on the manufacturers box it takes me to the old site.

Finalyl your main logo, looks pixilated. I think you should move the menu tabs down and put the banners above this.

Hope its valuble, good luck

Dave

Thanks Dave

Working on all the feedback. The logo is being re-designed. Just waiting for it to be completed.

The manfacturer logo's are also being re-worked and will be fixed soon. Going to take the flash away and display them manually.

I have also changed the boxes. They dont look nearly as cluttered now but may be a bit dark.

Any other comments guys - what you think?

Hiya Acidlink

Been fiddling with oscommerce for about 2 years now. Would not say im even close to an expert in any means but the only way to learn is to go to the contribution section, download and fiddle. Have a look around there. What I did is go through all the contributions one by one (took about 2 weeks) downloaded every contribution that sounded interesting and installed - believe me you learn quickly. Looks and sounds daunting at first but after a while it comes naturally.

Some good one's are the easy template system and infobox headers. Um, order editor comes in handy, as well as visitors, some SEO contributions. My store currently has over at least 30 different contributions - way too many to count.

Good luck bro.

On the other hand. I have replaced the the old store with the new so the second link will not work anymore. Any comments would be greatly appreciated - come guys what you think?
