babylea
I have been working on a site for a friend using oscommerce and she is now wanting to start marketing... apart from the new products module which i know isn't working correctly please can i have feedback on what works, what doesn't (in the general design).. there are a few things i dislike such as poor quality pics that my friend has uploaded herself whilst i have been working away in europe but i have those down on a to do list. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you. FalseDawn
I would either make the thumbnails bigger, or the image on the product description page bigger. Having to click the thumbnail, then click the image on the desc page just to get a larger image (that is still too small really) is a right pain. The black lettering on red (eg page numbers) is very hard to read. Shopping cart is a "cart". It is not a "bag". Don't be different just to try to be cute - it doesn't work. Colors not really to my taste - some of the text is too hard to read. Personally, I'd move the right column to the left - it's a bit unconventional on the right, and doesn't really work well IMO. Wendy James
I have to agree about the images, choice of colors but I like calling the shopping cart a bag if you use that throughout the site as well as having the navigation on the right. Maybe reading the menu would be a bit easier if the fonts were larger like the product listings. But the black is hard to read no matter what to me. I missed the boutique part for the first couple of pages. The overall look is kind of plain, other than the in your face color choice. Wendy James Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Guest
Ok here are few points: - Background color this purple you are using will be better to break it with separators of light colors to increase the contrast. The right navigation column look the same as the page and would be better with a different background - Loading pages; takes time to setup the footer? options like those reading boutique, about, designer etc - Buttons on category listing could been of better style. Its just a white bg with black color now. - Boutique work on logo now is with black color does not make enough contrast with the purple background. (same with prices) - Better to set a different color for the header in categories listing - On right navigation the header boxes have a nice small image on the left side that I was expecting to do something like the more arrow. You could use that instead of the default arrow button. - I cannot select text from your pages - resizing the window resizes the height of separators but as the text fonts retain their size the result is not very good. - Not sure if its the case but the images shown a bit stretched (maybe I am wrong on this one). Nice layout though.
babylea
Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate the time you've taken to look at the site and give me your input... I am thinking of installing an image mod as my friend wants multiple images so hopefully the size of the images shouldnt be an issue once that is done. I have noticed the black text and it is down on my things to do list for the site. Shopping bag will stay as that as it is want my friend wants, it is consistent throughout the site so I think it works. I am considering adding a few lighter colours for more depth as suggested. Have tried the column on the left but my friend prefers it on the right, it is inline on all pages and again I think it works. Will play about with font styles and sizes in the menu to make the navigation a little easier. I know the site may seem plain but the overall feel michelle wanted is clean and simple, not too overcomplicated so I am trying my best to stick with her wishes but as mentioned before I shall see about adding a little more depth to the site. Category listing buttons will be changed. Will lighten 'boutique' on the logo. and also take into consideration all of the other comments. Thank you very much, will post again once changes have been made
