hello all:

i followed the instructions for creating a new page via the following link:

http://www.oscommerce.info/kb/Catalog_Guid...g_Area/Boxes/49

and it does not appear that i was successful. i guess, after i followed the instruction, i did not see the end result of that laborious task. Am i supposed to go and link that page so it appears on the front end? I am baffled as what I should do next. I really need to create an informational page that will convey my store's refund, returns and shipping policy. It's just nice to have the ability to create new pages for informational reasons. I would appreciate any help I can get.

I am going to mask my website with an index.html page until i can resolve a list of issues with this oscommerce template. i must admit, i would only recommend this sort of template for someone that has knowledge of scripting. not having instructions for basic features does not help. the knowledge base has not been able to help me because some of it is not very thorough or detailed.

again, thank you. isabelle jolie

If you give us more information, I'm sure someone can help you figure out what went wrong. But we have nothing to go on.

Do you get an error? If so, what is it? Do you get any text? Can you pull up the page you created?

What is the URL to your site? Many times, by just looking at the page someone can see what went wrong.

To make a new page:

1. Make sure you have a copy of the osCommerce files on your computer, and then open the root level conditions.php file, select 'Save As' and resave it as newpage.php.

2. Edit FILENAME_CONDITIONS to FILENAME_NEWPAGE

3. Open the catalog/includes/languages/english/conditions.php page and save that also as newpage.php and edit the Page and Navbar title

4. Add this new page to includes/filenames.php

5. If you want this new page to be listed in the Information box then go to includes/boxes/information.php and copy and paste a link in the middle of the links you see and edit it to the newpage.php link. Do not touch or move the last link in the list unless you know php.

6. Go to includes/languages/english.php and look for the Information box links and add this new link by using copy/paste and editing.

That's all.

vgers instructions are as usual stright forward but detailed enough to succeed, so id you follow the instructions and everything went well you cann call the new page in frontend informationbox by the link you created

wann create a link somewhere else?

place this for testing eg in a table inbetween any existing <td></td> tags and call the page you inserted it. it should showup a link 'NEWPAGE'

<?php echo '<a target="_self" href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_NEWPAGE '', 'NONSSL') . '">NEWPAGE</a>';?>

before i throw in the towel and give up, i would like to contact someone via phone with expert knowledge to address a list of things i need to have on my site. the template was expensive and i put a lot of time in trying to figure our minor things but now i can't delay getting my site up. i am not really good in this sort of media because time is of the essence and very critical for me at this juncture with my deadlines. a live conversation via phone would be most helpful.

my site is untamedelegance.com. i created a page called store_policy that i have not been able to see on the front end. i am sure it's something i did incorrectly or did not do at all. please help! thanks.

You could save yourself a lot of headaches if you plan on adding more than one page or want to be able to easily edit your information pages as well as your index page and contact us page via admin by installing a contribution. I install Extra pages-info box w/ admin

http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2021

but there are several to choose from. I like this one because there is already a add on to use this with the WYSIWYG editer I install.

You missed some steps somewhere from the other post above. I went to your url, added store_policy.php to it and didn't even get an error page. Tried storepolicy.php as well.

okay, i will follow you advice on install the contributions...initially, i was unfamiliar with the term 'contribtuion.' i was told by a fellow member that my template has some missing features that is disallowing the addition of new pages...i will investigate that issue as well. thank you for your help.
