le petite
:'( Hello! Can somebody please help a newbie out here? After much hair pulling and searching this wonderful forum, I am finally able to get into the "New Installation" portion of oscommerce. However, while in this portion, I have stumbled across another problem that I can't seem to find an answer to, and would like a little help please. When I've entered in my information for Database Import, I come up with this error... A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Host '66.49.129.204' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server I've checked and checked again to ensure I have the proper information entered, and all appears to be correct. I even changed my MySQL password with my server again to be doubly sure, and still am getting the same response. My hostname and username are correct, as is my password, and when I've clicked on the question mark by the database name, it's suggested the following... Database Name The database used to hold the data. An example database name is 'osCommerce'. Which I have done. Can somebody out there please help me out? Thank you in advance! :D

♥Vger
Try '127.0.0.1' in place of localhost. If that does not work then either: 1. You did not create a blank database before starting the install 2. You are supplying an incorrect user name and/or password for mysql access 3. Your domain has not been on the server long enough to have settled in. 4. Your hosting company has screwed something up. Vger

♥Vger
There is one operating system, called Red Hat Enterprise Linux, which uses the ip address for 'localhost' (127.0.0.1) instead of 'localhost' itself. Looks like that's what your site is on - good system. Vger
