liamC
Hi guys, I have just started out a fresh OSC and put all the files from my computer onto my ftp and Ive realised I did it in binary instead of ASCII. I didnt import the database or anything, the only thing I had put was the folders onto the FTP. I now want to delete the folders and start again but it wont let me delete the admin folder containing the images and graphs folders. Everything else has gone. How can I delete these files? Thanks Liam
♥Vger
The images are meant to be uploaded in Binary mode, so they can stay there. It's just files that need to be uploaded in ASCII mode. However, if you do want to delete everything then it's probably the permissions on the folders in 'admin' - make them all 777 and you should be able to delete. Either that or it's to do with your FTP programme, which you have to set to allow deletion of non-empty folders. By default our FTP programmes are set not to allow deletion of non-empty folders - we use WS FTP Pro. Vger

I'd already changed the CHMOD to 777 on all the folders but with no luck. I've just renamed the folder and left it to it's own devices! I'm using Filezilla as my FTP, but I've also tried deleting it via IE and it still wont delete. Suppose with it renamed and nothing in the folders it's doing no harm! ♥Vger
If you can't delete it via FTP then you should be able to delete it using the File Manager in your web hosting control panel. Sometimes it's possible for a file or folder to become corrupted ('locked') and if this happens you won't be able to delete it and you'll have to get your hosting company to do it for you. Although it won't be a problem now that it's been renamed it would be worthwhile tracking down why you can't delete it in case the problem crops up again.
