ChrisJChrisJ
I believe I have enabled the shared SSL (of my web hosting provider) with my osCommerce store. But I'm not sure. Should my osCommerce pages show anything that will alert my customes that they are protected by SSL? All I saw was that the https: information in the browser bar (that I edited in the configure file, as instructed). Also upon leaving the checkout success page, this Security Alert box popped up and stated "You are about to be redirected to a connection that is not secure. The information you are sending to the current site might not be retransmitted to a nonsecure site. Do you wish to continue?" Does the fact that this box pops up, and the web host info is in the browser bar, mean that I've secured my store transactions with the host's shared SSL? Should my osCommerce pages show anything that will alert my customers that they are protected by SSL when they are transacting a purchase at my store? thanks. AlanR
This leads to two questions... 1) Do you get a solid padlock when the site is in https? 2) Did you use any of the work arounds to make ssl work or did it work with standard settings? Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Those are great questions. Yes. I see the solid padlock. I believe I edited the correct Lines the correct configure files, if that's what you mean by standard settings. So, if i see the solid padlock, each time the browser bar changes to my web hosts instructed info/address for shared SSL, during the credit card process, at my osCommerce store, this should mean that the transactions are secure via SSL?
