is there a solution to this shipping question?

Greetings and thanks once again for assisting me - using these forums has answered every one of my questions and solved all my conundrums, so some props to begin with.

 

I have my shipping values set for "first item X and additional items X" with a radio button to choose desired method - here's what it's like without the radio button:

 

USPS 1st Class Mail, 2-7 days, up to 13 ounces

($5.00 first item, $1.00 each additional) $5.00

 

UPS Ground, 2-7 days

($6.50 first item, $1.00 each additional) $6.50

 

USPS Priority Mail, 3-5 days

($7.50 first item, $1.00 each additional) $7.50

 

International - Canada or Mexico ONLY

($7.00 first item, $1.50 each additional) $7.00

 

International - All Others NOT Canada or Mexico

($15.00 first item, $5.00 each additional) $15.00

 

This works great for me BUT now I have a product which is a lone wolf - no shipping charges. None of my products use the "weight" variable so that solution as mentioned in the forums will not work - - this particular product is priced differently for varied parts of the world and I used the products attributes to get the dropdown menu of options and that's working good - -

 

Now, I can add another shipping option like the above for Free Shipping, BUT if they buy any other product at the same time shipping will not be calculated - currently all I can do is tell customer to not buy additional products with the free ship item

 

any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You're expecting too much variation of one programme. Add weights to your other products and then you can use the Free Shipping option for that lone product.

Hi Vger - thanks; that's exactly what I was thinking of doing but tried to avoid going back and changing everything. I will first try to leave all as 0 and make this one 1 and see how that goes - if it works I'll let ya know.
