Getting rid of error messages

I went in to edit my configure.php file to chage the ssl to true and when I uploaded the new file I got the following error on the main page of my site.

"Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/auntvera/public_html/Store/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file."

When I go back thru C panel to change the permissions it keeps defaulting back to 777 all the directories above are open to 777 so I should be able to change these permissions. I tried locking down the above directories to get rid of the error with no luck. I even put the code I changed back to false and it still will not remove the error or let me change the permission on the file. Any thoughts?

Thanks Brian

changing true/ false has nothing to do with the file permissins. you need to use an ftp program or your host file manager to set the file permissions to 644.

for an ssl to be true, you need to have an ssl certificate installed on your server.
