Guest Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 that doesnt mean anything, save the next line as a file on your site as phpinfo.php <php phpinfo(); ?> then run it and see what all you get

I suppose that means php is not insatlled? Ken
♥Vger Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Can you load an html file and view it or does that give you an error too. It's odd to get a 500 error just on a phpinfo.php file, as a 500 error means that it is 'forbidden'. If it was simply not a case of having php installed then you would see the file but it would be output on the screen just as the text within the php file. Vger

Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, I can load an html file. My web site is up and running. I can also run perl and cgi scripts. I'm sure this is a problem with Verizon. Can a host block php from running and not other scripts?? Ken
♥Vger Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 PHP has to actually be installed on a server. There would be no need to block it if it's not installed. Your web hosting company will tell you if it's installed or not. However, both Verizon and Verizion are adsl providers, although Verizion offer a 'Personal Homepage' service. Neither sound like professional hosting companies. Vger

My first question is, is oscommerce compatible with SQL? If not is it possible to run the oscommerce software on their server and host the DB on my personal MySql server in a different location? All this after I get past the 500 error. Thanks Ken
AlanR Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 There are many, many places where you can get inexpensive hosting with php and mySQL for less than $10/month, sometimes lots less. Why waste all this time trying to cludge something together? Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Tri County Gear Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Couldn't have said it better myself! Vger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well? This is not my business. I mantain this site for a friend and the hosting is part of his DSL package. I may not be able to convince him he needs to do this. Ken
Tri County Gear Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Who do you use for hosting??? Ken
