I am running apache, mysql and php in windows environment via xampp package.

i tried to install oscommerce as per instruction and come across this error message when coming to Database Import section. i entered all the details and it gives me this error message:

A test connection made to the database was NOT successful.

The error message returned is:

#HY000Host 'xxxx' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

i tried it with different user, it fails, tried it with an existing database, it fails. i have run out of idea on how to continue with the installation. i have given all access permission to the mysql user but it still give the same error message.

what might be the problem i m facing here?

you are running php 5 and this issue has been covered many many times in the forums.

It is well documented in the bug reports and the resolve can be found very quickly by a simple search.
