Loolar Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I must be missing something vital. No one seems to be coming into this website. On average I get 15 or 20 people per day. NO PEOPLE = NO SALES. I've submitted many times to all the major search engines, building up links, but nothing. It's been six months now and it's getting frustrating. Can someone who knows what they are talking about have a look and see if something is missing. If anyone can help me from sinking quicker than the titanic I'd be very grateful. Thanks, Alastair www.loolar.com

But all that is for keeping clients on your site ones they are there. If only 10-20 come in the first place, you should look at your SEO. Treasurer MFC

simaster99 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 It seems okay, have you market researched? It may be that online shop,Getting all its hits from Google is not bringing in the right type of pople, we use Google for some not all of our hits. We leave fliers everywhere, we use Ebay, and we have a Games server that shows our URL every 5 mins or so! but your site looks better than ours!
boxtel Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 What's SEO??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Search Engine Optimization. many different things fall under that term. Those are for getting more people to your site so you have more visits. The site layout, functionality and most of all the products are there to keep those visitors on your site (more hits) and hopefully buy something. You need to do both but you can deduce from your visitors stats where the main problem lies. Low amount of visitors = SEO low amount of hits per visitor = bad (look, functionality, speed) site or products or both. Treasurer MFC
wizardsandwars Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 What type of advertising are you doing, other than trying to get free traffic from search engines? Are you using Google AdWords? Are you submitting regularly to Froogle? Are you advertising on any price comparison sites (nextag, shopping.com)? Do you offer an aggressive affilliate program? Do you have a newsletter? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.

Guest Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 And how can rectify the SEO? I can guess how you would rectify the second bit!!! Lots more hardwork! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Im not trying to be funny here but are you purely relying on Google / Search engine hits, if you are you are really open to losing out. Google SEO is a never ending task, if you want to rank in the top 5 you could be here from now till your business sinks. Relying on pure Google hits isnt enough you are going to have spend some money on marketing your product, Adwords, Overture (for Yahoo), all cost money but will bring good hits to your door. Advertising in magazines, at fairs, etc should bring more options. IF you have set up your shop and hope google brings them in through "natural" searches you are kidding yourself. Also because they are moving goalposts SEO is redundant, in that if you optimise, next week google could change the way they rank and you would be stuffed. Better to have good content and other marketing schemes... Sorry!
