Hosting server just installed php and MySQL on his server.

I used the IP address, the database username localhost

I just used the example for the database name: osCommerce

Error returned:

Access denied for user 'localhost'@'www.interactiveindustries.com' (using password: NO)

With a password:

Access denied for user 'localhost'@'www.interactiveindustries.com' (using password: YES)

Is it me or does the hosting guy have to set up somenthing else???

Thanks for any info anyone can give, I'm not familar with the server side set up.

:'( :'(

it seems that your hostserver does not your account.

How did you get this error? During OSC setup?

Yes. during installation. In Step 2.

The hosting server is new to php and MySQL, first install on his server.

PHP 4.4, MySQL 4.1 Windows Server

So, he needs to set up a username and password for me ??

Sorry to be a dimwit.

i think your host has not set things up properly, and if he is just setting up php and mysql, i do suggest to not stay there as you will continue to have many problems.

Step 2?

When you put in your database account and your password and database name and choose "continue", OSC will first check whether you can connect to the server. If the connection is established then the OSC will use this connection to create tables.

If you failed on the connection checking it means that your account or password has problem.

Actually i have never seen anybody use 'localhost' as a account name. Contact your server guy.
