Setting up a test site for my store

I'm working on getting my store set up, and I would like to install the store (do the basics anyhow), and copy the entire store installation to a sub url underneath the main one. For example, if my url is http://www.vazdru.com (which it is :D ), I'd like to install a copy of the store under http://www.vazdru.com/test. Tha way when I make changes I can test thoroughly & move them to the main store when I'm ready. Has anyone done this before?

It shouldn't be a problem. after you are happy with the test store, move it over, the only files that will need changing to reflect the new location are includes?configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php

I installed and tested on a local host set up on my PC (no ftp hassles or waiting) whilst I built and tested and then just chanfged the 2 files and moved the db when I copied to the web server
