Don't use email address as login name?

Recommended Posts

I have a situation where I need to be able to have my customers log in using a username that isn't their email address then ask them for an email address when they checkout?

I'll try and explain why

I have multiple buyers in the same company who want one universal username and password to log in but want confirmations to go to whoever placed the order.

Eg Bob and Frank both work at XYZ publishing.

They both log in with the username "XYZ" and the password "bananas" so both Bob and Frank can log in and purchase stuff.

But, when they go to checkout it will prompt them for an email address and this will be used to send the confirmation invoice to.

I know each person could set up their own account but it would be better if Bob could see when Frank has purchased something for example.
