Also check the sort order that you have and ensure none overlap. ;)

just checked, none overlap.

 

Check your admin, modules, order total and be sure you have tax included there.

they're all there.

 

on my shipping (zone) do i have to specify a tax? i don't want the shipping cost to be taxed though

This is the same problem I'm having so let me know if you come up with a solution. I do want to charge taxes on shipping though.

but i'm having a problem... it isn't showing PST for ontario

I've been trying to use the Onatrio Canada Tax Zones Setup.txt found here but it's not working.

I've downloaded the file you've suggested and I'll look at it in the a.m. when I'm fresh. I'll let you know how I get on.

i tried that one before too, it didn't seem to work for me.
