Im a little conserned that I can access the admin tools from any computer in my house without a passward prompt of any kind. Is there a setting im missing? :rolleyes:

I figured out how to password directories from the host server. I had to lockout catalog as well though, it wouldnt let me go deeper in the directory.

You should be able to protect individual folders e.g. 'admin' without affecting other folders.

In your Web Hosting Control Panel (the one to manage features of your hosting - and not your osCommerce admin panel) there should be a feature called either Password Protection or Directory Protection. You use this feature, which should show you either a full list of all folders or else allow you to navigate to individual folders, to Password Protect your 'admin' folder.

 

There are many posts each day on Password Protecting the 'admin' folder, so there's loads of info available if you use the Search function on the forum.
