Restoring a setup?

All,

My host servers were attacked by a virus that over-wrote all my index.php files. While I have been able to restore my site (more or less) ... there is still some damage that makes me think I should just re-install the oscommerce package.

Can I use my existing databases, so that basically the info in them is ported to the new site?

Does anyone have experience with doing this / tips / advice?

Thanks!

Dan.

Should work fine - I normally have 2 or 3 versions of osC implemented on my PC as a development playpit, they all point to a single database. So for you, it should just be grab a backup of the attacked site just in case, but especially

catalog/includes/configure.php

catalog/images/*.*

catalog/admin/includes/configure.php

catalog/admin/images/*.*

Follow the install instructions up to and including FTP'ing the new unblemished script files onto your server. I suspect the install routine may have an upgrade option, never done it - and too busy to try now - but instead I'd copy the above 2 files and the image directories (as long as they are virus free ) back onto the server and delete admin/install/ and you should be as good as new

Good Luck
