We got rid of our old tech guy and we need to change our password to our admin. It was set up using .htacces and .passwd now i have opened both files and can not see our current password. How can i change the password?? I have done many searches of the forums to find this and have come up with nothing. Please help, our old tech is constantly getting into our site and checking our wholesale prices and giving them to our competitors. Please respond to this call for help!

You can stop him straight away by FTP'ing to your website and renaming the 'admin' folder to something unique. Then in admin/includes/configure.php you will find either one or two pathways which say /admin/ and you need to change that/them to /newname/

If your old tech guy can't find the folder (as it's been renamed) then he can't get into it.

Then go to your web hosting control panel, change the password for that access if he had access to your web hosting control panel as well, and then use the Password Protection feature to password protect the renamed 'admin' folder.
