product having several 'items'

hi everyone :

 

i am working on a catalog for a furniture store which is currently handling about 500 products, i have several categories including

- bedrooms

- living rooms

- office furniture

 

etc.

 

many of the bedrooms have several items, let's say

 

bedroom X has items : bunkbed, nightstand, low boy , etc.

 

just to make my life a buit more complicated the client has made a request which was not considered from the beggining

 

basically what they want, is to be able to click on the bedroom of choice and see the picture for the bedroom, related info and such, and also have a clickable list where one could further select and see the indivudual items within such bedroom

 

from what i can see oscommerce can handle products but not items within a product.

 

help !!

i have no idea as to how exactly i'm going to tacle this one..

There are a whole bunch of contributions to have additional images. You could install one of those so all of the pieces of furnature could have their own images, which have pop ups of their own.

 

Would something like that work?

perhaps, but they want to see it in a product page very much as if such item were a product itself

There is a master/slave contribution that does that I think... but it is for selling the subitems seperately I think.

 

You could always put the product image in the description, take it out of the product_info.php, and make it an image map and link to pages you have made for the items. Lots of work though.

 

Hope someone comes along with a better idea. I am out of them.
