Customize Product Fields

I have site with a very specific product db structure.

Does osCommerce let you define/customize the product fields?

Additionally, I would would need to be able to create lists or categories by this fields. For example sneakers have the attributes: Manufacturer, Material, color, sport.

I'd like to build lists, or stored searches by those attributes. So the navigation structure would be:

Nike, Addidas, Reebok, converse etc.

and

Leather, Nylon Mesh, Canvas, etc.

And

White, Red, Green, Blue, Black, etc.

And

Tennis, Golf, Basketball, Baseball, Running, Soccer.

Can anyone help? All the software I see have canned product templates and a folder-based category hierarchy.

Thanks

sadly, there is no contribution for this kind of setup, while it is absolutely possible to do. You will need to custom code it if you would like to use it. It will take a bunch of changes in the database, a lot in admin and of course in catalog too :-). Have fun!
