emailanj Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Well, first off I would like to say Thanks for all of the help in getting this done or at least to the point that it is. It has been a few months but I have learned so much from you all that I am even able to help with some (simple questions) on the board. Please Criticize away....I would like to hear all thoughts, good and bad so I can make corrections. My site is My Site My Webpage Feel free to create an account and place an order. Please just log in with test somewhere in your name so I know its just a test customer. What is the best way to promote my site now that its basically finished? I do have a small advertising budget. Thanks, anj
Coastie Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Yer i checked it out and created a sign on. It looks good and i think u have done a good job, Praise is allways good. 1 thing, after i created my account and it says Your Account Has Been Created, No pics came up in the top row? and i refreshed the page? Best Sellers, Have a look here My Webpage and have a look at the best sellers. This may help you promote your site. (Just a Thought). and it's a contrib. I like the home page graphic up the top and am impressed with the top horizontal menu. How did u do that? Also your URLS could be changed, there are some really good contribs, re search engine friendy urls that really make a differance. I have had a look at your meta tags, Sorry this is what i am working on at the moment so i had to look. have a look below. <html dir="LTR" lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Pro Show Equipment, a division of CDS Inc.</title> <base href="http://proshowequipment.com/store/"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css"> You have no meta search info. Have a look in the contribs area on header tags. there is a great contrib there that can help. I really like the "Traveling Just Got Easier" pic did u get it done or did u do? Need to fix the enlarge pics (problem) is your freight pricing correct $628.00 to Australia? wow all in all i think u are no the right track good on u.
emailanj Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 First off...Thanks so much for taking the time to go in-depth on my site. It feels good to hear a little praise. :D I noticed the pictures not coming up the first two tests I did when it went into the secure site. I am not sure why this happens, has me totally stumped. I spent two days searching and experimenting and nothing....after a customer logs in a time or two the images seem to get stored? I love your best sellers. I really want to do that, its adds life to the site without being annoying. Your site looks great!!! Nice and clean and tidy. Just one suggestion...the OSC default graphics stick out like a soar thumb. here is the contribution I used. 1837 It puts a blank image were the graphics go so you do not get the red square. Just a thought. I am glad you like the graphics...Adobe Photo shop....And many hours..(But I'm slow) Thanks, I will go to the contribution area and find what you recommended. I need to promote now and had no idea were to put the Meta tags. I need to find a good promotional company to submit. Yes, $600+ dollars sounds about right. Costs $75.00 for UPS to send documents to Bangkok Thailand. The product you selected weighs 90lbs. I will be installing the Bax global contribution and from experience, Our Parent company CDS Inc. sends our Cart Mule product line (540lbs) to Australia for around $300.00 so I am thinking 90bs will be $150.00 or so. Actually for our new product line Australia should be one of our stronger markets....If things work well. Thanks for all of your input. I will be checking on my image size and make sure they are all at 400x300. You keep up the good work too. Have a great night...Or day? for you... Anj Yer i checked it out and created a sign on. Thanks, anj <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anj, I checked out your site, but I apparently didn't read your post carefully. I setup an account and ordered a test item. I like your site. I have a 1024x768 screen with my Firefox browser maxed to full screen. Your shopping cart shows about an inch or so of white space to the left and it is just enough to kick on my horizontal scroll bar so I have to move your storefront over a little bit. I am new and just figuring out how to setup my cart. I notice that mine fits a smaller screen. I can have my favorites open and still see the whole cart. On yours, it scrolls across on either mode. You might consider reducing the width just a bit. Look into that left blank area. There should be a way to eliminate it. I help a lot of people with computers and 800x600 is still a common screen size for internet browsers (the people who browse). You may wish to narrow your store to fit that screen. I don't know much about your market, but in some markets, the scroll across the width will run off some potential customers. Good luck, Buck
emailanj Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 Thanks so much for the heads up...I did not know all that. I only reduced the width because it seemed that most of the big name sites that I looked at did it....knew there had to be a reason..I had different widths on almost every page until I installed the contrubution. ;) I also noticed that some shift to the right and narrow the width? Should I do this? No problem with the sign in...I have been having great fun with the Who's online ;) I am not quite sure which contruibution to install to enhance its abilities..there seems to be a few. Thanks again for checking out my site, anj Anj, I checked out your site, but I apparently didn't read your post carefully. I setup an account and ordered a test item. I like your site. mark27uk3 Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Hi, Have you checked your site for cross browser compatibility. In firefox it is all over the place. Mark Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die!
♥Vger Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Yes, the image widths total over 900 pixels, and as you're using my Fixed Width Site With CSS contribution you have to keep the total width of the images to the page width you've set in the stylesheet.css file. Vger
emailanj Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 Thanks so much..I think I have it fixed. I also moved it from the center to the left. I resized pictures and fixed the popup picture size to 400 x 300. Can you please have a look?My Webpage Also while your there can you please see if logo and heading pics are comming up in the secure portion of the site? They do with mine but not with some others. I think its because I click on my site so much it stays in my temp files?.... But really I have no idea... Also any recommends on a good who's online enhancement? one thats somewhat easy to install and with minimal hick ups... Thanks guys again so much for all the help.. :D Anj Yes, the image widths total over 900 pixels, and as you're using my Fixed Width Site With CSS contribution you have to keep the total width of the images to the page width you've set in the stylesheet.css file. Guest Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 In IE6 it displays to the left with about 2 1/2" of space on the right In firefox it is centred but the widths are messed up. Please allow your store to expand to the full width of my screen :D Matti
♥Vger Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Whatever you've now done it hasn't cured the problem of the images being too wide for the total width of the site - and it's messed up the fixed width contribution. It's to the left in IE and centred in Firefox. The Fixed Width Site With CSS works across all browsers (including Safari on a Mac) but you must keep the total width of images across the page to the width you set in the css. Vger

emailanj Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Its so hard to fix when I can't see the problem...Thanks for being my eyes. I love your contribution and am so glad I found it. problem is in the beginning I did so much experimenting with widths that I am having a hard time going back and finding it all. My motto in the beginning was to change everything that had a 100% in it. (not good I know) Just glad that you have the contribution that makes it sooo easy.... Well I am thinking everything is in place now (no more errors :D ), can you guys please take another look? Guest Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I love the 3d look of your info boxes, very stylish.
Guest Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 Nice site, your hard work paid off. Just a couple of things I noticed: "Conditions of Use" page is blank. You have two links to this page--Conditions of Use in "Information" infobox and "Terms of Use" link in footer. "Languages" infobox--when you mouseover the last flag, there is an error. When I click on the various Categories from the infobox, the image across from that category name is missing (shows box with red "x" in it). Customers often want to check shipping costs without having to set up an account. I didn't see a way to do this...perhaps you want it this way..just bringing it to your attention. Best of luck to you.
celiaak Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I noticed one USA flag and one UK flag 8ut no G8P currency? If it is not intended, why two english language flags? C?lia
