it seems as though I need to look at this first hand in order to understand what is going on.

 

It certainly shouldn't be a problem with SEO URLs - although the URL is rewritten, as far as Supertracker is concerned the page requested would still be product_info.php?products_id=xxx as so the SEO URLs contribution is totally transparent to it.

 

One point worth making though is that when testing, you have to bear in mind that the prime method of detection of individual users is now the User Agent String. Therefore, if you access the site again within a 30 minute window of a previous visit, this will be recorded as an extension of the previous visit and not a new one (therefore the referrer information is not overwritten).

 

Patrice - could you possibly PM me with some access details for your admin so that I can check things out?

The contrib is working as expected....

 

Concerning blank url in the referrer list :

 

"Empty referrers will be made up of:

1. Accesses by search spiders

2. People who arrived by manually typing in the URL

3. People using bookmarks/favourites

4. People who arrived at the site - went away from the the PC for over 30

minutes and then started clicking again

5. Sessions that for some reason, Supertracker had some problem recognising

as a continuance of an existing session, and were recorded as new ones

instead."

Hmmm, this is a big campaign - google probably stand to make a ton of cash here!

 

Anyways, although not specifically considered in the Supertracker design, there's probably a way to cover tracking to the Ad Group level. Let's illustrate by example...

 

Suppose I have 2 Ad Groups.

 

AdGroup 1 is triggered for the keywords sugar, spice and honey

 

AdGroup 2 is triggered for the keywords salt, pepper and ketchup

 

If we set up AdGroup1 one so that there are specific URLs for each of the keywords as follows:

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead1&keyw=sug

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead1&keyw=spi

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead1&keyw=hon

 

and Adgroup2 as follows:

 

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead2&keyw=sal

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead2&keyw=pep

http://www.mysite.com/product_info.php?pro...glead2&keyw=ket

 

(If you're wondering why we even need to use short codes such as sal, pep, and ket, BTW it's because sometimes you can run ad campaigns with key phrases such as "spicy ketchup", which has spaces in and obviously we aren't allowed spaces in URLs).

 

Then we should setup the config of supertracker as follows:

 

$ppc = array ('googlead1' => array ('title' => 'Google Adwords Ad Group 1', 'keywords' => 'sug:sugar,spi:spice,hon:honey'),'googlead2' => array('title' => 'Google Adwords Ad Group 2', 'keywords' => 'sal:salt,pep:pepper;ket:ketchup'));

 

At least, I think I managed to write that out without making any errors.....Then you should get separate reporting for each of the Adgroups and each of the keywords in each Ad Group.

 

Unfortunately, there's was no simple way to design this, so it's perhaps a little counter-intuitive!

if it's still set like that, it seems to be working.

 

I just accessed the URL: http://www.clubfitting.net/index.php?ref=g...=camp2_GENERAL1 and then went to check Last ten visitors in your admin to check that the landing page was recorded correctly (it was).

I thought it was not working because couldn't see all the tests I ran before. I had 14 referrals and, now, I can't see them in the list. Even the test you did before yesterday doesn't seem to appear anymore.

Yes, it won't because I used http://.....?ref=googlead&keyw=xxx and the new settings you have given Supertracker don't include that combination. If Supertracker hasn't been told to expect a particular combination in the PPC stats, it won't look for it.

 

BTW, the reason for doing it this way is quite simply one of report performance - it would take a large time to scan the database and work out how many different combinations of ref and keyw had been used to arrive at the site if I tried to make this more "automatic".

Just installed ver 3.1 everythin works great until I try to delete rows from the db in admin. I had 1361 rows and wanted to delete 1300. Entered the number 1300 and got this message:

 

1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'ORDER by tracking_id ASC LIMIT 1300' at line 1

 

DELETE from supertracker ORDER by tracking_id ASC LIMIT 1300

 

[TEP STOP]

 

Any idea on how to fix this?

I was just in a hurry and made a typo.. I do have keyw and not kewy.

I just can't get it to show any stats....

I can manually go to the index.php?ref=test&keyw=ybb and it still shows nothing.

I get this exact same error.

I have: Database Info Your Supertracker database currently holds 1478 rows (oldest record : 11/02/2005 )

I tried to delete 500 and got the exact same error above.

I think this is the same error that was covered a few pages back in this thread. Can you confirm whether you are running a fairly old version of MySQL, as this seems to be the cause of the problem.

 

No solution had been found as yet, because I don't have access to a sufficiently old version of MySQL to troubleshoot this issue.

Hi. I am also from Spain and have no problems with the time. I guess the program takes the time from the server clock. Do you have your webpage in a spanish server?

 

In order to hace it in spanish, you only have to translate de fields inside admin\includes\languages\espanol\supertraker.php

Here's a quick upgrade for you guys,

 

Basically what it will do is fix the bug I described many pages back where if you have the Option Type contrib where you can submit text for option values on your products it locks up the system after you add the item to your cart with any special text and a ' such as john's in the text field and then re-visit the product page.

 

For those of you who do not have that previously mentioned contrib it will clean off the attributes in only the supertracker data (shopping cart not affected). What this will do is allow you to see which products are being viewed more accurately since you will not have many instances of the product every time they view it and change an option, which could be dozens of variants of the same product and will also help optimize the database field usage.

 

Here is the quick and easy modification

 

in catalog/includes/classes/supertracker.php

 

FIND:

			  //If customer is looking at a product, add it to the list of products viewed
		  if (strstr($current_page, 'product_info.php')) {
			$current_product_id = $HTTP_GET_VARS['products_id'];
			if (!strstr($products_viewed, '*' . $current_product_id . '?')) {
			  //Product hasn't been previously recorded as viewed

Hi,

 

The predfined variable we are using to get this information is $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] - this from the php.net site:

 

The address of the page (if any) which referred the user agent to the current page. This is set by the user agent. Not all user agents will set this, and some provide the ability to modify HTTP_REFERER as a feature. In short, it cannot really be trusted.

 

In other words, there are other reasons why it can be blank. There's not a lot we can do about this, but it's all we've got to go on. I think you still get some useful information to go on, because most users will not even be aware of the capability to block/change referrer information, if they have it. The bottom line though is that probably not as many people have bookmarked your site as perhaps it might appear from the stats.
