What is the best Rich Text Editor?

Hi all,

I want to be able to modify the main page, product info page and (if possible) other pages content using a WYSIWYG editor. Have browsed the forums and found out that for there are atleast three such editors. One developed by Maxi DVD is sad to be buggy for people like me who are on a shared server and use shared SSL certificate.

I have downloaded FCKeditor but can't make it to work. I have downloaded HTML AREA too but I haven't been able to install it too. I might however succeeed in installling them after some try but hte problem is that these two editors dont allow you to edit main page's content via WYSIWYG editor.

Please give me some suggestions in this regard.

Not sure if this is the correct thread (if not mods please move), but I'll reply anyway.

Instead of a WYSIWYG editor, why not go for a free complete development environment? I'm talking about Eclipse with the PHPEclipse plug-in, that's a really powerful tool that people shouldn't underestimate. Combine it with a CVSNT server and you've got versioning (with possibility to undo your changes if you don't like them) on top of it all.

It may be a little daunting at first, especially if you don't have some development experience already, but it's worth the effort! (Guess what I am using :) )

Have fun! B)

a. WYSIWYG editors I mentioned are also free

b. I dont think any not-so-techie person would be able to modify the main page's or product info page's content via Eclipse with as much eash as a WYSIWYG editor offers.

Thanks anyways. :)

a. good!

b. well, that depends how much effort you want to put in it. I figured, as you know the WYSIWYG-acronym and you browsed the forums to find some help, that you would be techie enough to use Eclipse. This doesn't mean you've got to know ALL the features (I don't either!), just the basics would be enough and it would help you a lot to customize osCommerce. But the decision to use it is all up to you of course, it was just my point of view...
